Udinese won only 6 of their 38 games. And stayed up.
Serie A 2023-24: 6 wins, 19 draws, 13 defeats. 19 draws is the most by any team in 12 years of Europe's top five leagues: half their games ended level. A normal team draws about one game in four.
Those draws were worth 19 points. Udinese finished 15th with 37, Frosinone went down with 35. Without the draws, Udinese would have had 18.
A draw doesn't feel like much. Nineteen of them kept Udinese alive.
